Hilary Duff's Dad to Jail for 10 Days

A judge in Texas has arranged the father of actress and isaac M. Singer Hilary Duff to expend 10 days in clink for contempt of court.


Bob Duff was led away in handcuffs Wednesday during a judicature hearing subsequently Judge Thomas Stansbury in Houston determined he violated an enjoinment against marketing assets without court approval.


The Houston Chronicle reported in its on-line edition that Bob Duff must pay into a court depositary $367,537 he earned from selling stocks last month.





Bob Duff's attorney Robert Piro said his client would post bond and file an appeal.


Bob and Susan Duff are in the midst of a bitter divorce.


Stansbury determined Bob Duff should pay Susan $12,five hundred for Hilary's birthday company, which was the subject of the hearing. Her mother cherished $25,000 to devote for a present and party.


Neither Hilary, whose 21st birthday is Sept. 28, nor her sister Haylie were in court.

Dubliners' founder dies



Ronnie Drew, a founding member of the Irish family group The Dubliners, died yesterday after a foresightful battle with cancer. He was 73.



Drew, born in Dublin in 1934, formed The Dubliners in 1962 with Luke Kelly, Ciaran Bourke and Barney McKenna. Their songs include "The Molly Maguires", "Dirty Old Town" and "Seven Drunken Nights". The Dubliners also recorded with The Pogues, and together they had a hit with "The Irish Rover". Drew also released a string of solo albums.


The Irish President Mary McAleese yesterday called Drew a "champion of traditional Irish music".


She said: "With The Dubliners, he re-energised and invigorated our unique musical heritage. He brought great pleasure to the people of Ireland and yet more around the world."


Drew's wife, Deirdre, died last year. He is survived by two children and quintet grandchildren.


Earlier this year musicians, including Bono of U2, Christy Moore, Shane MacGowan and Sinead O'Connor, released a strain called "The Ballad of Ronnie Drew". All win from the single went to the Irish Cancer Society.

Snoop Dogg's wife arrested for DUI in S. Calif.

FULLERTON, Calif. —

Police say the wife of rapper Snoop Dogg has been arrested in California's Orange County for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.


Fullerton police Lt. Craig Brower says officers stopped 32-year-old Shante (Shahn-taye) Broadus of Sherman Oaks about 12:15 a.m. Saturday and took her to jail. She was cited and then released pending a court appearance.


Brower says nobody else was in the car but he didn't have any other details.


Broadus and Snoop Dogg - whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr. - were married in 1997 and have three children.


A message left with Snoop Dogg's publicist was not immediately returned.

Damon to play rugby legend Pienaar

Matt Damon is to play South African rugby legend Francois Pienaar in Clint Eastwood's new film 'Human Factor'.
Variety reports that the film tells the story of the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa and its impact on the country.
